Coronary Heart Disease Treatment Limerick

Coronary Heart DiseaseCardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in Ireland accounting for about 10,000 deaths each year. We encourage all our adult patients to have regular cardiovascular risk assessments including blood pressure and cholesterol checks.

At Ennis Road Medical Centre we have four 24 hour blood pressure monitors ensuring easy access to the most accurate way of determining whether you have high blood pressure and providing invaluable assistance to us in the management of your condition.

We can also perform ECGs and encourage consideration of more specialised cardiovascular screening such as stress tests and coronary artery CTs to those in at risk categories (overweight, family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, smoking etc). The Irish Heart foundation has an excellent website with further information here

Due to the unprecedented storm expected to hit Limerick on Monday and the weather warnings from Met Eireann we are asking patients not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Our ability to provide general practice services on this day cannot be guaranteed at this point in time though we will endeavour to  do so if safe. We are advised that UL hospitals group has cancelled all outpatients appointments but the Emergency department at University Hospital Limerick is open as normal and the local injury unit in St Johns will be open from 9am to 6pm.
